MINDFUL KIDS, HAPPY KIDS!
Why should your child practice meditation and mindfulness?

The Magic Trick to Better Sleep

BY JANANI RAVIKUMAR

Does your child sleep well in the night?

Tonight, Srimaa is unable to sleep. She is worried because she has exams tomorrow. She is tossing and turning in her bed.

Her best friend, Happy the mindful genie appears before her. He is concerned because it is already past midnight.

‘What is the problem, dear? Are you unable to sleep? Shall we do a simple relaxation practice?

Simply lie down comfortably, keep your arms and legs outstretched. Relax your body fully and take few deep breaths. Relax your face, now relax your neck, now your shoulders, slowly down to your chest. Feel the heart beat. Relax your stomach. Your arms and hands. Now go down to your thighs, legs and feet. Relax them all. Say thank you to each and very body part for doing so much of work for you. Relax. Relax. Calm.’

And now the child gets a restful sleep at night as she is relaxed.

Sometimes, nothing like a warm hug to make your child sleep. But teach her also to hug herself, to relax herself before going to sleep by practising the body mindfulness. This relaxes each and every part of her body, calms down her nerves, and helps her to sleep well.

Hope you try this out with your kid today!
